Special Topics in Building Technology 7 - ACOUSTICS & LIGHTING in ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
Introduction to the theory and practice of architectural acoustic design (*). Interpretation of key aspects in acoustic science and regulatory framework that define essential design requirements and assumptions. Analysis and study of the basic principles of architectural acoustic design in applied examples of performance spaces (i.e. an auditorium or a room for speech) by modeling and simulating acoustic performance with appropriate software or other representational tools and media. Understanding the interdisciplinary mode of acoustic design that should be assimilated seamlessly, as an integrated design & engineering component in the building's schedule of accommodation and the architect's workflow.
(*) In parallel to the above, students will be strongly encouraged to carry out further observations and explorations, related to the main aspects of natural & artificial lighting.
